The book uses simplified games (3 card and 10 card deck poker like games) to show how game theory arrives at solutions, why that matters, and leaves it to the readers to decide for themselves how and why to apply those concepts to their own poker game. I found the lack of specific strategy talk very refreshing. The book is also very accessible, though you would need some poker background to.

But that book, while applicable to many aspects of no limit and pot limit poker was originally written mainly.

In essence, game theory serves as means to create a model to represent certain scenarios that have a variety of variables and potential outcomes. With these models developed from game theory, one can determine if assumptions made for a certain scenario.

Aside from games proper, such as poker and chess, there are many conflicting situations to which the theory of games can be applied, notably in certain areas of operations research, economics, politics, and military science. A fundamental concept in game theory is that of strategy. A strategy for player I is a complete enumeration of all actions that player I will take for every contingency.
